Our latest education project was also a new and exciting challenge for us. While we have extensive experience in the corporate sector, we don’t often get the opportunity to work on large education projects at this scale. A new British University’s Academic city campus in Dubai was the perfect place to flex our brain muscles.

Designed by UK based A+D firm BDP, we worked with main contractor ISG to deliver a space that incorporates the modern trends and culture of today’s learning environments. Products from Orangebox’s portfolio of soft-working and soft seating ranges are used to create social and collaboration areas for students to break away from traditional classroom settings. Products used are the popular Cwtch sofas, Away from the Desk units, and the new Peeps and Coda collections. For a University of this, it’s important to achieve the right balance between a need for busy social spaces, and an individual student’s need to concentrate and work in comfort. This was critical in the large and open plan central spaces. By using the AftD system the University was able to achieve a vibrant mix.

In the computer lab, a zone that obviously involves heavy use of computers, Teknion’s HiSpace Height Adjustable Desks serve as the ideal ergonomic solution. On the other end, the administrative area requirements were easily fulfilled using Teknion’s operative range – the Interpret, coupled with Do Task Chairs from Orangebox.

The client’s commitment to sustainability, design, and functionality was another important aspect of the project. Fortunately for us, our product range had the right mix to support their requirements. We’re almost jealous – the overall result is fantastic and one any prospective student would love to go to.
